How to measure the
TV screen
Calculating the size of your TV is less complicated than you think. The size of the TV refers to its diagonal length, which is derived by measuring from the top left corner of the actual TV screen to the bottom right corner. Most sizes are expressed in inches.
Empirical rule:
bigger TV = better TV
The TVs come in various sizes, but we recommend you choose the largest size your budget allows. If you are considering getting a TV that is 75 inches or more, there is something you need to be aware of. According to internal Samsung research, a major reason for buying new TVs is the demand for larger screens. So, is there a specific screen size you have in mind? Then now is the time to pick a big screen and never look back.
Recommended viewing distance from your TV
All televisions have a recommended viewing distance and angle that you want to consider when placing it in your home. The best and most immersive viewing experience is when 40 degrees of your field of view is occupied by the screen. This viewing distance can be calculated if you simply know the size of your TV. To get this distance, multiply the screen size by 1.2. So for a 75-inch TV, that means a distance of 90 inches, or 2.3 meters away. Take a look at the table provided to determine the recommended viewing distances for various TV sizes, so you can choose the best TV size for your space.
Other things to remember
1. Check the actual dimensions of the TV.
The excitement of buying a new TV can often make you forget the task of installation. A TV is more than just the size of the screen. The physical dimensions of a TV, the base and frame, and its future placement in the space are important factors to remember. Make sure you compare the exact dimensions of the TV with the layout of your furniture to avoid any disappointment later on when installing it.
2. Check the resolution of the TV.
The general empirical rule of thumb is that as the screen size increases, the total number of pixels or resolution should increase. The better the resolution, the more you see the image instead of the pixels. This is why, when buying a large TV, it is highly recommended that you choose a high-resolution picture quality such as 4K.
